Educational Services Abound!

Uinta B.O.C.E.S. #1 provides comprehensive educational services to area residents.  We offer programs from basic skills to college degrees.  These services include:

  • Skill development to lead to a High School Equivalency diploma. 
  • Associate degrees offered by our partner, Western Wyoming Community College. 
  • Programs to develop work preparation skills.
  • Safety training programs geared toward area industries.
  • Personal enrichment classes to cultivate new interests and hone existing ones.
  • Bachelors and advanced degrees offered through our university partnerships.

The WWCC Evanston Campus offers a range of academic and vocational degrees.  This variety of educational services helps students achieve their academic goals.  Also WWCC has transfer agreements with several area Universities.  As a result, students can complete a bachelor’s or master’s degree while living at home.

Additionally, we offer Bachelors and Masters Degree opportunitiesWe currently partner with the University of Wyoming and Western Governors University.  Thus, allowing area residents to enroll in these schools’ degree programs.

We also offer Dual Credit and Concurrent Enrollment Classes. High school students can earn college credit through these programs.  Dual Credit and Concurrent classes utilize local instructors, and online instruction.

Skills Training & Readiness Services:

We’ve designed this educational service to assist in honing specific skill sets.  These include language arts reading & writing, math, social studies and science.  Students within the program may request tutoring services. 

The state recognizes our program as a top performer.  Additionally, we offer these services at no charge.  The program assists students in preparing for specific tests.  These tests include the High School Equivalency, college entrance exams or math placement tests.  We encourage students to further pursue post-secondary education or workforce training. 

Uinta B.O.C.E.S. #1 also offers English as a Second Language.  Interactive classes focus on improving speaking and listening skills.  Students will also work on reading and writing exercises.

For this program, we partner with the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services.  The program assist young people with obtaining their High School Equivalency.  Our instructors help students learn skills to help them succeed.  So far, 300+ area residents have participated in this program.  Many participants continue pursuing their goals through our partner, Western Wyoming Community College

An employment training program providing life skills and test preparation.   Designed for youth age 16 to 24, trainees study:

High School Equivalency Preparation and
Remediation for
Math, Reading & Writing skills.

Employment Training: including

  • portfolio development
  • finance and work habits
  • interviewing skills
  • resume and application skills.

Life skills Training:  including

  • issues of substance abuse
  • communication skills
  • risk taking behavior
  • conflict resolution
  • decision making
  • stress reduction
  • anger management.

BOOST trainees receive funding from State of Wyoming Department of Workforce Services or State of Wyoming Department of Vocational Rehabilitation.  Approved applicants receive an hourly stipend to attend class.  The Department of Workforce Services makes the approvals. 

BOOST classes are held Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  The program lasts for approximately 12 weeks.  For more information, contact Shelby Powell or David Welling.  Students must be accepted by Workforce Services and the Education Center to ensure placement.
