Available Scholarships through Uinta B.O.C.E.S. #1 :

  • Scholarships are contingent on available funding.
  • All students applying for a scholarship must reside within the boundaries of the Uinta County School District #1.
  • All applicants must be registered for college and have a tentative class schedule.

WESTERN WYOMING COMMUNITY COLLEGE (WWCC) PART –TIME SCHOLARSHIPS

General Eligibility:
  • Students must be registered for 3-11 semester hours.
  • Students must be eligible for a subsidized Stafford loan.
  • Fully Pell-eligible students do not qualify for a BOCES scholarship.
  • Students who are partially Pell eligible can qualify for a partial BOCES scholarship.
  • Students who cannot take at least one class in the building must participate in our mentoring program to be scholarship eligible.
Hathaway Stipulations:
  • Students who are eligible for a Hathaway scholarship must apply for one.
  • Students receiving a Hathaway scholarship are not eligible for a BOCES scholarship.
  • Students who are eligible for a Hathaway scholarship, but did not apply, are not eligible for a BOCES scholarship.
  • If student is not eligible for a Hathaway scholarship, we need documentation explaining why they are not eligible.

Amount of Award: 

$75.00 per semester hour, deposited directly into student’s WWCC Financial Aid Account.

Subsequent Semesters: 

Student must earn a 2.5 or higher GPA during scholarship semester to be eligible to apply for this scholarship in subsequent semesters. Students must reapply each semester.

WESTERN WYOMING COMMUNITY COLLEGE RN SCHOLARSHIPS

Eligibility:

  • Student must complete all prerequisites with a ‘C’ or higher by the prior spring semester
  • Students must be accepted into the WWCC RN Program
  • Awards are given to the two students each fall with the highest GPA and TEAS score

Amount of Award: 

Full current tuition only for the semester, deposited directly into student’s Western Wyoming Community College Financial Aid Account.

Application:  Applications will be mailed out to all eligible students. To be considered for this scholarship you must:

  • Students must receive Application materials from WWCC Evanston Campus by mail
  • Turn in Application with Letter of Application
  • Interview with Uinta B.O.C.E.S. #1 Executive Director, Mike Williams when scheduled

UNIVERSITY OF WYOMING (UW) SCHOLARSHIPS

Eligibility:

  • Scholarships are available to students who are pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree only. Scholarships are not available for degrees past a master’s.
  • Scholarships are NOT available to students who are enrolled in certification or endorsement programs.
  • Students must show proof of acceptance and registration of classes in the degree program
  • Students who are enrolled in an online only program must agree to meet with Sheila McGuire during the semester to participate in the mentoring program.

Amount of Award: 

Undergraduate Classes: $125.00 per semester hour 

Graduate Classes:  $150.00 per semester hour; up to $1200.00 per semester

Students receive a check directly from Uinta B.O.C.E.S. #1 after the semester with by presenting proof of completion with a passing grade & a signed purchase order.

WESTERN GOVERNORS UNIVERSITY (WGU) SCHOLARSHIPS

Eligibility:

  • Students must be degree seeking in the education (teaching) field
  • Students must show proof of registration and acceptance with a class schedule

Application:  Obtain application materials from Sheila McGuire (Email Sheila) and then…:

  • Student must turn in Application with Letter of Application
  • Student must turn in a letter of acceptance and show proof of class registration
  • Student must interview with Uinta B.O.C.E.S. #1 Executive Director Mike Williams when scheduled

Amount of Award: 

Student will receive $1000.00 per 6 month unit

Student will receive check directly from the BOCES when proof of completion of unit with passing grades is presented and a purchase order signed

DISTRICT TUITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM CRITERIA

Eligibility:

  • Students must currently be employed by the Uinta County School District #1
  • All classes must help teacher qualify to teach concurrent classes for WWCC
  • Students must be recommended by appropriate school district administration
  • Students must turn in verification that classes will be accepted by WWCC for concurrent approval

Amount of Award: 

Student will receive $1000.00 per 6 month unit

Student will receive check directly from the BOCES when proof of completion of unit with passing grades is presented and a purchase order signed

Wyoming Works Program

Wyoming Works program will help adult students pay for college.   16 degrees, 20 certificates, and two courses offered by Western have been accepted into the program.

“Wyoming Works is a great way to promote Western’s career and technical education degrees and certificates that meet the needs of businesses and industries in southwestern
Wyoming and across the state. Most of the programs we selected for Wyoming Works are “bright outlook,” meaning that job opportunities in these areas are growing and expect to have continued growth, along with good wages. We encourage anyone interested in pursuing a degree or certificate in one of these areas to contact us about getting started.

Varies dependent on chosen degree, certificate or course.
