Our Success Stories
Hello! My name is Cassidy. I cannot express how grateful I am for Uinta B.O.C.E.S. #1 and all of the wonderful staff that have changed my life throughout the years. I especially cannot thank enough Diane and Carol! They have been unconditional supporters of my success and still are to this day.
The programs Uinta B.O.C.E.S. #1 offers have changed my life in many ways. I became a teen mom at 16 and truly didn’t realize how that would affect my life. I didn’t graduate from traditional high school and quite frankly I wasn’t sure what was even attainable for me at the time. Between balancing a new baby, and trying to make adult choices as a 16-year old I was fortunate enough to go through the boost program and get my GED and have the support of everyone who runs it. Through that program opened so many doors for me that I didn’t know were even possible. College, licenses and certificates, financial support and education, and so much more.
When life felt the most overwhelming to me, B.O.C.E.S. was there to help me figure things out. I wasn’t ever judged for being a young mom, they supported me and my son in creating a future for us. Over the last 8 years, I have seen nothing but continued support and encouragement to reach for a better future.
They truly have programs for everyone in our community not just young single moms like myself. Even when you don’t qualify for their programs they still go out of the way to support you and get you back on track for your future. I have enrolled in college again because of that, I couldn’t thank them enough. I wouldn’t be as successful if it wasn’t for the support and help from everyone at Uinta B.O.C.E.S. #1. I feel like every time I’ve ever called B.O.C.E.S. they have answered my questions and given me resources to succeed and go above and beyond.
I would recommend everyone to the programs at Uinta B.O.C.E.S. #1, single mothers, kids who are overwhelmed by traditional schooling, and older adults. They truly take care of anyone and just want everyone to succeed.

As a first-generation Mexican-American, I was pushed to get an education and become successful. It didn’t work out like that for me, I hated the traditional school setting. It wasn’t until senior year that I realized I wasn’t going to graduate and that I needed to do something about it. I ended up going to the 3rd floor at Uinta B.O.C.E.S. #1 to get some information about doing my High School Equivalency. When I got there Diane White told me about their 12-week BOOST program taught by Carol Bourland. Not only did I end up getting my High School Equivalency but I also got prepared for the real world with their workforce training and life skills training. Mrs. Bourland was an amazing teacher, she treated us like individuals and was always there when we needed help. I graduated from the B.O.C.E.S. very first BOOST class in 2009 as Valedictorian with perfect attendance.
Since graduating I’ve gone to various jobs and in 2014 I got a part-time receptionist job at Uinta B.O.C.E.S. #1. Upon my return, I eventually went to join the B.O.C.E.S. Families Becoming Independent program where I got my Microsoft Office Specialist Certifications. Feeling confident in my office skills in 2019, I applied for the full-time position at Western Wyoming Community College Evanston Outreach as their Office Assistant. While working at the front desk, I have added some marketing duties; including working on social media and updating brochures. Getting my experience up I was asked to work on more social media and start a newsletter for B.O.C.E.S. and Western Evanston Outreach becoming a marketing assistant on top of my office assistant job. It wasn’t until March 2022 that I got my own office and started working more with graphic design and marketing for Western and B.O.C.E.S.; working on catalogs, brochures, newsletters, and webpages it’s really something I enjoy doing.
In the next couple of years, I’ll be on the path to getting my marketing degree. Of all my years and various jobs, this has been my favorite one and I wouldn’t have gotten here without the help of the BOOST program especially Carol Bourland and Diane White. I’ve been in the BOCES building since 2014 and I’ve seen so many people come in and when they leave they have hope for their future. Whether they are here for BOOST, Industrial Safety Training, or Community Education it’s amazing to see how many people Uinta B.O.C.E.S. #1 has helped throughout the years. I can never thank Uinta B.O.C.E.S. #1 for everything they have done for me and my future. I wouldn’t be where I am now if it wasn’t for their amazing programs.

I first attended college at the University of Utah right after I graduated from Evanston High School. Despite doing well at EHS and even having a scholarship to the U of U, to say I didn’t do well there would be an understatement. I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life, changed my major multiple times over two years, struggled with my grades for many reasons, and ultimately stopped attending. By the time I decided to give college another try, I was back living in Evanston and had young kids at home. I still wasn’t exactly sure what I wanted to go into, but I decided I should go back anyway and see if I could figure it out. I told myself that I would probably have to limit myself to whatever was available anyway, thinking there would be limited choices.
Fast forward a few years later and I’m working full-time as the assistant director of the very place that made my education possible. I earned my associate’s degree from Western Wyoming Community College and my bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Wyoming – while living in Evanston, working and raising kids. There are multiple distance education programs available that have allowed me to earn the education to follow my passions and work in a field I love. As a first-generation, non-traditional college student, I have so appreciated the assistance of the staff and the flexible options I’ve had through BOCES programs, including scholarships that helped pay for school. In fact, I love my work and furthering my education so much that I’m currently working on my doctoral degree in higher education administration through UW outreach.
We hear a lot in Evanston and in the county that we need a community college, but I know from first-hand experience that we have one. We may not have dorms or a huge campus, but we do have many opportunities for people to earn their degrees or certificates and sometimes with more flexibility than an actual campus because of the nature of outreach programs, which makes them really accessible for people who work or have kids at home. I have multiple co-workers attending outreach classes to pursue their degrees and my husband completed his bachelor’s through outreach as well – there are more possibilities than people might think, made possible through BOCES. Their programs quite literally changed my life, which is just one of the many reasons I love my work.

Industrial Safety Training with BOCES in Evanston Wyoming plays an integral part for SOS Well Services. With us having the opportunity to send employees whenever we need to for training keeps our business running. BOCES is always good to work with. They have even send trainers to our sites in Kimball, NE and LaBarge, WY to accommodate large groups on a Saturday.
As you know, industrial safety training for Safeland, H2s, First Aid, CPR, Fall Protection, etc. is required by all Gas and Oil Companies. BOCES always helps us when we need training. The partnership we have with BOCES and their trainers is critical to keep SOS compliant with our Gas and Oil companies demands. We greatly appreciate and respect BOCES.

Evanston BOCE’s center offers a great course on OSHA 10 safety training. Its content is highly relevant to all industries, but is especially so of the construction and manufacturing industries.
The course offers real world learning situations and activities to underscore the importance of safety in industry. All of my cabinetry and construction students who took this course, spoke to the fun, hands-on learning activities offered in this course. Many reported back positive feedback from their employers after showing them their OSHA Certification Card.
I know many of our local businesses would highly value employees or prospective employees having this certification.

I just wanted to take a moment to thank you and the Industrial Safety Training (IST) Department of B.O.C.E.S. 1 for all the support and training you have provided to us over the last several years.
Eaton Inspection Services (EIS) relies on IST almost exclusively for obtaining the necessary safety training required to work in the oil and gas industry, manufacturing industry, and other industries nationwide, and we can always be certain that the training received is up-to-date and meets the requirements of governing bodies such as OSHA and MSHA.
The customer service provided by IST is outstanding! There has always been a willingness to work with us on scheduling classes, performing fit testing for respiratory equipment, or providing necessary training to new employees on short notice. Over my many years of managing various Inspection Companies or departments, no other training centers have shown this type of cooperation and it is greatly appreciated.
Thank you again for all you do, and EIS looks forward to continuing our relationship with ITS for many years to come!

As a former student and someone who has utilized the classes, trainings, and programs offered through B.O.C.E.S, I wanted to voice my appreciation for all the things I have learned throughout my time there. I have taken many trainings and classes throughout my working years, and all have helped me to excel in my career.
When I was in high school I didn’t learn by the traditional desk and book teaching that they offered me. I joined the BOOST program because my ultimate goal was to be “done” with school, but when I met Ms. Carol she took a passion in teaching each of us individually and that really opened my eyes that I could learn at a different pace than my peers. After graduating from the BOOST program, I didn’t have the work experience nor the proper training to apply for jobs. Ms. Diane was the key to all my inexperience. One of my greatest successes has been my work ethic. If I didn’t have the training and work ethic courses B.O.C.E.S. offered me I wouldn’t have been prepared for the industry I wanted to work in. I know that with the right teachers and leaders my education is endless. Diane’s program, Families Becoming Independent, introduced me to Candy in the Industrial Safety Training program and she got me in to the training and certifications I needed.
The IST training program greatly helped me gain more knowledge and understanding in the Safety Technology field. Safety has been a staple throughout many of the fields I have gained experience in. Furthering my understanding and knowledge in Safety Technology gives me the ability to assist with safety precautions and help implement safety procedures across many fields and is a valuable training and certification. This training has been incredibly useful and is a great tool for any company or individual who wants to further their career or properly teach their employees about safety precautions. I have greatly benefited from the trainings I have received and encourage the continued offering of them.
I have more educational goals now. I’d like to take other certification programs from Western Wyoming Community College (particularly CDL training) and would love to advance my career with more safety and management courses. My family is thankful for the programs offered at B.O.C.E.S., and they have made a difference in our lives.

WWCC was the foundation of furthering my education beyond high school. It was such an amazing opportunity to attend WWCC as a member of the men's soccer team.
The education offered in smaller ratios exceeded the expectation of what little I knew of college during my time. I was able to further strengthen and establish my love for learning that had continued to push me to obtain my MBA!
Western Wyoming Community College afforded me the opportunity to learn in a welcoming and structured environment, while instilling the needed qualities and demand of the real world. I owe a large portion of my success to what I learned and experienced at WWCC. Go Mustangs!
