Course Length & Learner Contract
Participants master Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access programs. Each program has a suggested seat time for completion of approximately 25 hours along with out-of-class assignments. Participants take a pre-assessment to display their individual competency in each program. A learner contract is then developed between the participant and an advisor as to the approximate time for the individual to complete.
The Learner Contract includes expectations for the participant and the advisor. A sufficient amount of time both in and out of class each week is listed to ensure academic progress.
Testing
Uinta B.O.C.E.S. #1 is a nationally recognized certified testing center for Certiport Testing. This testing center administers the Microsoft Office (MOS) certification exams. We currently offer certification exams in Microsoft Office 2013 and 2016 applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access.
The MOS certification is recognized worldwide as an indication that the holder is proficient in the use of Microsoft applications.
The Microsoft Office certification tells current and potential employers that you are a proficient user of the software in Microsoft Office.
Certifications test your knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, and PowerPoint. Exams are taken individually for each application. Microsoft recommends MOS certifications for people who use productivity software in business settings.
Above the level of a Microsoft Office Specialist, Microsoft offers Expert certification for Word and Excel which requires an additional exam for each application. Microsoft awards the MOS Master Advanced Certifications, to anyone who successfully passes the Word and Excel Expert level exams, the PowerPoint exam, and one elective exam (Outlook or Access).
The MOS certification exams combine written questions and tasks that you complete with the software. Upon successful completion of the exam, you receive the appropriate certification from Microsoft.
After completing the training for a MOS program, students can take the MOS certification exam and must pass the exam at 70% or better in order to receive their certification.
