During the first session, students will learn to mimic the
aurora borealis colorful ribbons of and the energy of
the solar wind using an acrylic paint pour. The poured
paint will be manipulated by the force of gravity and
paint sticks to create unique marbleized patterns.
Glow-in-the-dark materials can be added to the paint
pour so that the auroras will illuminate when the lights
are out. We will also begin designing the silhouette
template that will be used in the 2nd session. In the
second session, students will use their templates to
paint in their chosen silhouettes. The addition of a
landscape silhouette gives the viewer the information
needed to perceive the paint pour as patterns in the sky.
Students will also have the option of spatter painting
or spraying paint to add a starry night effect.
Students will paint 1-8×10 and 1-5×7 canvases.
Supplies included in the cost.
